Note: Eco-conscious mineral-based sunscreens may create a whitening appearance to skin while applied – this is due to the fact that they do not employ nanoparticles which offer sunscreen a less opaque look, but are also known to cause significant development issues in marine life even in extremely low concentrations. Applying mineral-based sunscreen may be different than you are used to – apply in sections, remember a small amount will go a long way and moisturize skin prior to using to help reduce the whitening effect.
Ingredients: 6.6% Titanium Dioxide (Non-Nano), Deionized Water, Organic Aqueous Extracts of Camellia Sinenis (Green Tea) Leaf, Organic Ocimum Tenuiflorum (Tulsi) Leaf, Organic Alaria Esculenta (Wakame Seaweed) and Organic Olea Europa (Olive) Leaf, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Organic Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Leaf Juice, Cocoglycerides, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Palmitate, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Sorbitan Olivate, Cetearyl Olivate, Methylcellulose, Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Stearic Acid, Acrylates Copolymer, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Sorbitan Palmitate, Tocopherol, Xanthan Gum, Alumina, Benzyl Alcohol, Salicylic Acid, Sorbic Acid
Directions: Apply liberally before sun exposure. Reapply after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating or immediately after towel drying and at least every 2 hrs.
Testing: ‘We tested our safe sunscreen products to ensure they will not be harmful to fish and other aquatic life when used as directed. We are adamantly opposed to animal testing when there are other alternatives. At this time, there are no cellular cultures or models that effectively assess aquatic toxicity to the extent that we feel is necessary. Therefore, our testing included the use of purposely bred live fish and EcoConsciously and scientifically obtained coral larvae.’

Biodegradability, aquatic toxicity and healthy attributes: these three concerns are hard to balance in any skin care product, especially when you consider the wide range of preservatives, additives and chemicals that are approved for use by the FDA despite having been deemed harmful to either the body or the planet. We have developed our formulas by consciously choosing each ingredient for its efficacy, integrity and non-harming influences.

Fact: Over 6,000 TONS of skin care products enter coral reefs from tourist activities alone. This number doesn’t take into account the products entering our rivers, lakes and streams through run off, sewage, and more. While some brands in the market today claim to be “reef safe” and “ocean friendly,” many contain ingredients that are known to harm the fragile ecosystems and marine life of our waters. We have allotted a significant portion of our start-up costs to eco-lab testing so that we can state, with complete confidence, that we are the safest product on the shelves.
