Riz’ Brauton Short is a stylish trunk that looks more like an every-day piece than swimwear. Cut from the brands signature recycled polyester fabric, it features slanted side pockets with mesh pocket bags (for water drainage), an inner drawcord for maximum adjustability and a tailored overall appeal which makes this an effortlessly transitional piece: perfect for beach, country or city.
Riz is dedicated to design that is both environmentally thoughtful and ethically produced – using recycled materials and ensuring safe working environments with fair compensation for workers manufacturing their garments locally in the UK. In addition to pledging to create the most thoughtful garments possible, Riz donates 1 eu for every short sold to the Marine Conservation Society and will offer 25% off to anyone who is interested in sending back their well worn Riz short for a new round of recycling.

In 2009, friends Riz Smith and Ali Murrell decided that there was a need for something better in the men’s swimwear market. Riz had worked for many years designing swimwear, and Ali had recently returned from sailing across the Pacific where he witnessed first hand the crisis of plastic pollution facing our oceans. Together, they set out to build a brand with the aim of creating ‘The most beautiful and sustainable swim shorts in the world’.
All Riz shorts are made of 100% recycled and recyclable fabrics in ethical factories in Europe and are made in genuinely small batches – they do not mass produce. The brand works with a small collective of hand selected artists and illustrators to develop exclusive prints that incorporate themes of endangered fish, flowers and insects in the hope it will foster awareness and inspire appreciation for the natural world. Every pair of our shorts is also digitally printed in the UK using water based inks.
“We believe that true style lasts forever. Inspired by the idea of Savile Row for the Sea, our shorts have an ‘old school’ tailored feel and won’t go out of style over night.
Shorts that are built to last are better for the environment, and are therefore more sustainable. Our shorts have substance. Whether triple stitching the shorts for durability, or packaging our products in recycled boxes, we are dedicated to delivering uncompromising craftsmanship and quality.”
The brand is committed to creating a 360-degree process for their goods – which means once a garment is purchased from them and has lived it’s full life, they take it back and reintroduce it back into the recycling flow to be once again renewed. They call this process ‘Rizcycling’ and you will receive 25% off of any new Riz suit for participation in the project.
Lastly, but definitely not least: for ever pair sold, Riz will donate 1 euro directly to the Marine Conservation Society.
