A Mara Hoffman swimsuit is the kind of piece that you adore, wear constantly, and one day a few years later find it’s still your favorite (and yes, it has lasted that long). These swimsuits are knows for their contagiously energetic, yet equally sophisticated color-ways, flattering cuts and subtle feminine detailing. The Kia is just that – featuring a center front tie detail and flattering lower chest cut-out.
Mara Hoffman is dedicated to design that is both environmentally thoughtful and ethically created with garments, using recycled fabrics, and cottons which bear the GOTS® certification and are produced in compliant factories.
Mara Hoffman founded her label in 2000 after graduating from Parsons School of Design in New York City. Fifteen years later, the brand committed itself to implementing more sustainable and responsible practices.
In an effort to foster mindful consumption habits, the brand maintains an open conversation about its approach and encourages consumers to reevaluate the relationship society has with clothing. The company continues to focus on sustainable materials, processes, and production in order to improve and extend each garment’s life.
President and Creative Director, Mara Hoffman, presents collections with a devotion to color, each inspired by and in celebration of women.
Mara Hoffman prioritizes natural, recycled, and renewable materials over other options when sourcing for their designs. All of our swimwear is made using recycled polyester or recycled nylon. Any cottons used are Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS®) certified.
The brand places great focus on the fair treatment of the workers and artisans involved in the production of each garment, regularly conducting in-person factory visits to ensure that the people who produce their clothes are paid fairly, treated respectfully, and work in safe conditions. They also aim to minimize waste and energy use associated with producing their products by engineering prints in a way that minimizes fabric waste and using digital printing to reduce water and fabric waste.
All swimwear is produced in the USA, and they carefully select production partners to avoid shipping partially finished products or materials between factories as well as working with mills that are focused on using renewable energy, reducing water usage and air emissions, and reusing material by-products in a closed loop system.
